cancelled isn’t the end of my running career, so I will live in the disappointment, grieve the loss, and move on. That’s all we can do, right? The good news is, Coach Andrew Miller has great perspective, and we had a great episode chatting about what to do when your A goal is suddenly gone. It’s not what we want to deal with, but it’s relevant and helpful information when we do have to deal with it. It’s important to appreciate the journey, and that’s never been more evident to me than now.

Shout out to the Fat Dog 120 crew, Christine, Erik, and the gang. I had some dentistry and work travel to work around, but still had a productive month, hitting 5 hours on my long runs and starting to dial in nutrition and hydration. I’m tracking what I’m drinking and eating out there, and I’ve been getting more practice with my poles. It does take some adjustment as you have to be more deliberate about eating and drinking when your hands have poles in them. Andrew was happy with where we are at and expects May to look a lot like April as far as training goes. We have my first 100k challenge in June, so that’s the next checkpoint!

Subscribe now

Coach Andrew Miller is once again taking me under his wing as I prepare for my longest personal challenge to date, the Fat Dog 120. Andrew coaches for Team Run Run, and he and I will chat for a few minutes each month about what we’ve been working on and why we’re working on it. The idea is to give listeners an idea of what it’s like to work towards a goal with a coach. It will be a blend of advice specific to me and to the community, and he will give us an idea of why he is doing things. The opportunity to work with a coach and also learn about their process is one I’m excited to share.

Last month on The Miller Minutes, Andrew and I chatted about hiking, nutrition, and how they are important to start dialling in early in training:
<div class="digest-post-embed" data-attrs="{"nodeId":"5dee716b-5bc3-4bbb-81e3-d00229c7862c","caption":"It was another solid month, even if I didn’t feel like I got in a groove. Andrew added some hiking days, and we’ve increased the length of the long run. As running takes up more hours on the calendar, I’m learning to adjust, and it’s been great having Andrew guide me along! prepare for my races. Andrew and I will chat for a few minutes each month about what we’ve been working on and why we’re working on it. The idea is to give listeners an idea of what it’s like to work towards a goal with a coach. He will switch between giving advice specific to me and to the community, and give us an idea of why he is doing things. The opportunity to work with a coach and also learn about their process is one I’m excited to share.
<p class="button-wrapper" taking me under his wing while I run towards Moab Run the Rocks in March. Andrew and I will chat for around five minutes each month about what we’ve been working on, and why we’re working on it. The idea is to give listeners an idea of what it’s like to work towards a goal with a coach. He will switch between giving advice specific to me and to the community at large and give us an idea of why he is doing things. The opportunity to work with a coach and also learn about their process is one I’m excited to share.

<a class="image-link image2 me under his wing while I run towards Moab Run the Rocks in March.

Subscribe now

This was our third meeting and I’m starting to find my legs a bit here in our new home. It’s been a big adjustment and I’m finally feeling like I can build a routine and prioritize things properly. It’s still a challenge and I don’t think I’ve got it completely figured out by any means, but the last month felt like I moved in a positive direction. I’m glad Andrew has been able to roll with the punches and we just keep moving forward. The workouts are getting a bit more structured, the long runs are getting a bit longer, and I think we’re gonna be in good shape as we move closer to race day. Enjoy my friends!

Moab Run the Rocks

I’m really excited to run this event in Moab, as I’ve never had the chance to visit that area, much less run through it!
